How can Asians be financially stable living in today's materialistic world?

If you are one of them, how different would your life be, and what would you have done differently, if you had been able to understand money matters earlier in your life?

There are 2 important things in life that money cannot buy – your time and your life. If you would have learnt that your life experiences since childhood including you growing up time with influences from people, society and environment you live in can result in your money skills and how you treat money, could you have done better with your money and continue to do even better to live your golden years?

Here at AboutMoneyTalk.com, we understand the paramount importance of being equipped with personal money skills to see a person throughout his or her life – from childhood to adolescence, early adulthood (20s to 30s) to middle age (40s and 50s) and subsequently through the golden years (60s onwards).

AboutMoneyTalk.com is a “people-oriented” website where we talk about daily money issues. We feature people from all walks of life and of all ages – from the young to the elderly, from couples to families – who share their experiences, thoughts, emotions and behaviour that have greatly impacted their actions and beliefs in handling money.

These days, we are becoming more aware and sophisticated about personal financial planning. At the same time however, planning one’s personal finances becomes increasingly complex and difficult in this age of globalisation, growing consumerism, explosion of the internet world, and further advancement in digital technology. Such advancement in our lives has a “knock-on” effect on our lifestyles, and bring increased challenges to our personal financial planning.

Why does AboutMoneyTalk.com focus on Asians?
Over the past decade, the Asian region has been – and still is – enjoying tremendous business growth. This has given rise to growing affluence among Asians – lots of new wealth has been created by the advancement of technology and commercial research for new products and services.

As a result, consumer spending by Asians is at an all-time high, with increasing emphasis being placed on material wealth to the point that it is overtaking our lives and what we hold dear.

We need to cultivate deep-rooted life values and a meaningful purpose in life, and view money as means to achieve these life goals and mission, rather than as a a substitute for what is emotionally lacking in our lives, such as happiness and fulfilment, and  meaningful relationships with others.
